Oscars

The best documentry award goes to the one based on the life's of children born to prostitutes in the infamous brothels of Calcutta. It is interesting to note that the life's of these children, whome we seldom think about, is brought to the world's attention by this documentry. I wonder if this would change the life's of those children. May be I am ignorant here, but there was one such Tamil movie (Mahanadhi) which was released some years back, which was a hit movie in India. I am not sure if that made any change to the lifes of those people. I still wonder what can be done to solve this problem of this magnitude.

Another important thing about this year's awards is that Million Dollar Baby won 4 awards, including best director, best actress, best movie and best supporting actor. It was surprising to me that this movie was shot in just 37 days (somthing like a hindi movie, back in the bollywood). Hats off to Clint Eastwood.

The sad part is, that we needed a foreigner to make the document when we Indians couldnt do it ourselves.

Million dollar baby resembles a Tamizh movie. In my opinion both Million dollar baby and Mystic River are fundamentally flawed. I am surprised at the critics reaction to this.

Sad that Scorsese missed out again.

Mystic River disappointed me with the treatment of Robbins & Penn characters. I thought that there would be atonements for them but unfortunately none in the movie. Kevin Bacon does play his role beautifully and I liked Robbin's wife character. She acted really well.
